Former GTECH Senior Executive Also Named to Company's Board of Directors
WALTHAM, MA (March 16, 2006) GameLogic, founders of virtual-play gaming platforms for lotteries and casinos, today announced the appointment of John E. Taylor, Jr. as president and a member of its Board of Directors.
Bringing extensive experience in executive management positions with a focus on strategy development and public policy matters in the gaming industry, Mr. Taylor joins GameLogic from SnowMark Corporation, an early stage venture capital firm, where he served as managing partner.
Steven Kane, chairman and chief executive officer of GameLogic, said, "We are creating a new gaming category that enables casinos to enhance player loyalty and increase revenues using virtual-play gaming new-media platforms. As GameLogic rolls out products across the United States, it is a pivotal time for John, a gaming industry veteran with a unique understanding of both lottery and casino consumerism, to join us."
"With approvals in Nevada, Mississippi and New Jersey; world-class investors, like Bain Capital; and a seasoned new-media management team, GameLogic is uniquely positioned to provide gaming operators with access to new-media channels, such as the Internet, mobile phones and interactive television," said Taylor. "I am excited to join a company that is doing this today, in full compliance with all relevant regulation. And, with more than 50% of worldwide Internet gaming revenues coming from the U.S., we have the perfect opportunity to help the domestic industry remain competitive, assisting operators to appropriately use and benefit from these channels all within existing laws."
Prior to joining SnowMark, Mr. Taylor served as a member of the executive management committee and corporate vice president for GTECH Holdings Corporation (NYSE: GTK), the parent of GTECH Corporation, the leading provider of lottery services to governments around the world. Mr. Taylor represented GTECH on a number of joint ventures and management boards. While at GTECH, Mr. Taylor was the founder and chief executive officer of its gaming and entertainment subsidiary, which developed non-lottery gaming operations around the world, including a number of racinos, Native American casinos and government-sponsored video gaming operations.
He graduated in 1988 from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Science degree, while maintaining the post of Special Assistant to the Governor of Rhode Island and acting as a member of the Governor's Senior Staff. He is also an active investor in a number of real estate and technology ventures, including TreasureVest Ltd., a real estate investment partnership based in Vero Beach, Florida. He is also director of PickaProf, a successful Internet services portal available at close to 150 public universities in the U.S.
